Mikes Thoughts

Netlify and the blog

I’ve been using netlify to build the blog and I like the service a lot. I don’t pay anything and am well within the boundaries of what they call the Free Account. My blog is so puny. I can continue just this way pretty much month to month, have blogging happiness, write as I will. I’m happy with how 11ty and how it all works.

The main thing for me is to have a place to write where I’m happy and feel like the main thing is more writing. Really do not want subscriptions for services for some platform I would be less than happy to be around. I just reach a point with some of the things where I know I would not be happy being there. I have my little list of those I’ve tried before. Some I could use. Others not even if donkeys flew.

I had disabled the blog for a short bit to see how it felt not writing. I lasted a day. I simply need the little corner this gives me. Whether people read it or not, really does not matter at all. At this point in life, it’s about the saying.

I also do not want anything complex like Wordpress that always has seemed to be more than what I could ever use. Wordpress is obsidian I guess. Themes and plugins. I cannot just do either. I’ve tried other markdown editors too. Nothing gives me the simple pleasure of just using iA Writer on the iPhone and MacBook. It also seems to just work how I want with 11ty. If I want to link to another blogpost there it is. Writing my daily diary or journal or whatever, just happens for me with it. There is no futzing with some app and many functions and features I will never use. I just want the writing parts. Not the location and weather and mood. Also not really to save old things and relive them. I have no interest reliving some past thing. I figure I already did those things. I want the writing for now.

So anyways or whatever

The blog seems happy on 11ty. Did you see that smile? Netlify works for free for me. I cannot see when I will not be able to use the free plan for this. So I need no plan or idea. I don’t like plans any more. Ideas I can do and sometimes I do have an idea.

The blog has always been a personal turn to me. A place with some small little things that come and go and leave me wanting to write more or different. I think I broke some of the RSS aggregator sites because of changes to my RSS feed. I had subscribed to them but I’ve lost interest in trying to use them.

That’s about it. I wrote my thing for this morning. Coffee is gonna be cooling just a bit so I don’t want that.
